This final B1 unit reviews the key grammar and skills from the course: present perfect, past simple, and modals (advice + obligation). Students complete a mixed-skills final task: plan a story, tell it, listen to a partner’s story, and write a clear paragraph summary with feedback and revision.
Finished time / specific time
• I missed my train yesterday.
• We went there last week.
No exact time / experience / result now
• I’ve never missed a flight before.
• I’ve already called customer service.
• You should check the gate.
• You must show ID.
• You ’d better leave now!
Choose the best tense/modals:
1) I (have lost / lost) my wallet last month.
2) Have you (ever been / ever went) to another country?
3) You (must / should) wear a helmet. It’s the law.
Plan using the story map:
• Where/when? (past simple time)
• What happened? (sequence: first/then/finally)
• Result now? (present perfect)
• Advice/rules? (modals)
• Have you ever…? / I’ve never… until…
• Last ___, I… / Two days ago, I…
• I should have… / I had to… / We couldn’t…
If students need more support, play a model story audio and complete the same notes sheet.
Write one paragraph (110–150 words) summarizing your partner’s story. Include sequence linkers and at least one modal sentence (advice or rule).
• The story is about…
• First, … / Then, … / However, … / Finally, …
• Since that day, he/she has…
• People should… / You must… / You can…
